More than 1,160 MD-80s have been sold worldwide, making it one of the most popular jetliners in history.

The MD-80 is a 150-passenger twinjet with a range of 2,800 statute miles.

MD-80s fly to more than 420 airports with 4,800 daily flights. They have flown nearly 26 million revenue hours since beginning service in 1980, covering more than 10 billion miles (16 billion kilometers), with more than 1.5 billion passengers.
